Here are some steps on how to use baking soda to whiten teeth

Simple way:
Mix baking soda with water in a small cup, mix half a teaspoon of baking soda with half a teaspoon of water. Blended until it forms a paste. Place the toothbrush in the cup, to cover it with baking soda paste. Alternatively, you can dip a moist toothbrush directly into some baking soda, and the powder will move to bristles. But, the taste of baking soda is very strong if you use it that way.

2: Brush your teeth for 1-2 minutes as you would in normal, but focus on brush access to all cracks. Do not brush your teeth for longer than two minutes because strong baking soda can begin to corrode the enamel in your teeth. You should be aware that the taste of baking soda is not pleasant.

3: Spit baking soda and rinse the mouth with water or mouthwash then rinse the toothbrush rinse thoroughly also.

You should realize that cleaning your teeth with baking soda should not replace tooth cleaning with normal toothpaste which helps fight decay, gum disease, and keep your breath refreshing.

Alternative methods to whiten teeth:

5: Mix baking soda with hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen Peroxide is a great product that can be used to whiten teeth effectively. Simply mix half a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of baking soda into a paste similar to toothpaste. Dip your toothbrush into this mixture, then leave it on your teeth for a minute or two. Rinse it with water or mouthwash.

Hydrogen peroxide can be found in most pharmacies and is usually sold in a dark-colored bottle, to prevent hydrogen peroxide from interacting with light. Make sure you have a 3% concentration, which is safe for oral use. Hydrogen Peroxide is also used as a mouthwash as an antibacterial, and hydrogen peroxide should be diluted with an equal amount of water.

6: Mix baking soda with lemon or lemon juice. Baking soda can also be mixed with fresh lemon or lemon juice, as the citric acid in these fruits is an effective whitening way. Simply mix half a teaspoon of baking soda with half a teaspoon of fresh lemon or lemon juice. Put this mixture on your toothbrush and leave on your teeth for a minute before rinsing completely.
Most dentists do not recommend this method, because citric acid in the juice has the properties of corrosion and will damage the teeth.

7: Mix baking soda with toothpaste. You can mix baking soda with a little ordinary toothpaste to get the whitening benefits of baking soda, along with enhancing the protective properties of toothpaste that contains fluoride. Simply put a quantity of regular toothpaste on your toothbrush and spray some baking soda on top, then use the brush as usual.


  • Be sure not to clean the gums with baking soda, because it can lead to a sense of burning and bleeding.
  • If you are damaged by your toothbrush and bloody gums, do not prefer to use it.
